Accidents per 100,000 Miles
Despite our intense winters, START is leading the way in safety. Nationally public transit systems average over 4 accidents per 100,000 miles. During the last three years START Bus has averaged just over 1 accident per 100,000 miles of service.
Gallons of Fuel used by Autos Saved
We have developed a methodology to calculate the net amount of fuel saved by persons riding START Bus instead of driving their own car. The annual calculation of this estimate illustrates that the amount of fuel (used by autos in our community) saved by START Bus was 116,000 gallons in 2011. This figure was an all-time high.
