I Don't Ride the START Bus, How Is It a Benefit To Me?
Even if you don't ride START, you are reaping these rewards:
- Everyday current START usage takes more cars off the road. Many of our riders have a driver's license and a vehicle but chose to ride the bus because it is more convenient for them - if that person had decided to drive today he or she could have been the vehicle in front of you.
- Fewer cars on the road means less pollution. START helps keep the air we breathe cleaner and the scenic views breathtaking.
- Many of the people you depend on use START (winter & summer resort staff, retail clerks, medical personnel, coworkers and more.)
- Transit improves access to jobs, allowing you to quickly get your order at the drive-through or your favorite restaurant or pay for your merchandise at your favorite shop because the employer was able to fill the vacant position.
- Transit provides greater mobility for your kids - 12th grade students and under ride the START bus free, wherever they go. Let START be the shuttle service and save you and your vehicle from excessive wear and tear.
- With a significant portion of our population aging, a strong transit system affords greater mobility to those who choose not to drive and to those who can't in our community.
- START's widely used ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) or paratransit bus provides mobility to the disabled, allowing them greater participation in our community and a healthier lifestyle.
- Jackson Hole thrives on tourism. Many of our tourists and guests to Teton County depend on START to get around, to shop, dine, and enjoy our community. They leave the car at their hotel and don't worry about finding a parking spot, possibly the one you were able to park in today!
- It's like insurance. It's there when you need it or your kids need it. START has bus stops at all the hot spots around town and Teton Village; we also serve Cottonwood Park during times that fit into your busy schedule.
